What is the attitude of the 'authorities' to parking bikes in Spain? Is it as relaxed as it usually is in France? In France i seem to be able to leave my bike anywhere without any 'official' problems, unlike the UK where, even in my small local town, I can only safely leave it in the small area designated to bikes and heaven help me if I leave it anywhere else. Advice appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Climbs - I'd say parking here sounds just as relaxed as it is in France. You might, from time to time, get a warning if riding / parking in pedestrian areas, or sometimes in the city if parking on the pavement, but 99% of the time no problem at all. Going into Barcelona centre, the bike is the obvious choice, not only is it easier to get through the traffic, but because you can usually park up outside your destination without any cost, or having to look for a space.

Thanks, Pat. That's helpful as I was wondering particularly about Barcelona.

If you are heading this way - give us a shout and perhaps we can meet up?

Sorry Pat have just picked up your message on return from hols. Left at dawn's crack on may 26th and didn't look at my emails on 25th pm.
Spent two weeks near Girona after a leisurely 3 days to get there from Santander. Then a 4day ride back to Calais to finish off.
Great biking roads all over Northern Spain and especially Catalunya. We had a great time but poor wweather. Barcelona wamade for bikes.

Great that you enjoyed the trip. Just spent 4 days riding across the mountains and back - cool.
Pity you didn't get great weather - but things have really heated up now - so time to start putting my summer escape plans into action i think.
